The Reynolds and Reynolds Company was founded in 1866 in Dayton Ohio, as a printing business and commenced its association with the automobile industry in the 1920s. The company rapidly established a reputation as a leading supplier of business forms for the automobile industry. In 1960 it pioneered the introduction of electronic data storage and recovery in a bureau form.

Since then it has spearheaded the development and establishment of bureau and on-line processing, as well as a family of market leading, powerful in-house computer systems for automobile dealerships. The Australian subsidiary - Reynolds & Reynolds Pty Ltd was established in 1983 and expanded the following year with the purchase of Burroughs Business Forms and again in 1986, with the acquisition of the 12 year old Australian subsidiary of Dyatron Corporation.

Today it is acknowledged as the largest supplier of automotive computer systems and forms in the world, with more than 15,000 systems having been installed throughout North America and Asia Pacific.

Since the beginning of its involvement in Australia, the company has consistently demonstrated its commitment to the Asia Pacific automobile industry, by developing systems that meet the specific requirements of Asia Pacific dealerships.

This commitment to systems tailored to Asia Pacific business, accounting and government requirements, has resulted in it becoming the major supplier of in-house automotive systems in Asia Pacific. This success is due in part to Reynolds & Reynolds' unrivalled position of being the supplier of all components of the systems it supplies.

As a total system supplier, purchasers can rest comfortably in the knowledge that all aspects of the installation and commission of a system, will be the sole responsibility of one supplier and not by sub-contractors or consultants, whose future may be questionable. This ensures true accountability for the delivery of the complete solution including software, hardware, networking, data communications, basic and on-site training, installation and consulting expertise.

In 1992 a Management Buy-In (MBI) was transposed over this wealth of history in the Asia Pacific automotive computer market place. The MBI involved the entire senior management team acquiring the majority of the company, whilst the world's largest automotive system supplier, still holds significant equity in the company. Reciprocal ongoing technology and marketing agreements formed part of the MBI, to ensure the American company remains a significant stakeholder in the Asia Pacific computer business.

This provided Asia Pacific dealers with the "best of both worlds", - ongoing access to the latest world leading technology of the U.S. shareholder, supported by local management with the same level of commitment to the business, as dealers have to their dealership - complete! The management team today collectively has over 120 years experience managing this business and looks forward to delivering the automotive market leading ERA2 software, in this new ERA of Reynolds & Reynolds Pty. Ltd.
